Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) review

"Kung Fu Panda 2" is exactly as you expect and more. The animation is superb, the story is much more than the original, and boundless energy. I enjoyed as fully as I could, given the horror of his 3-D. The original film, 2-D wide screen was great. But never mind. Hollywood has brainwashed us (or themselves) to the 3-D is an improvement and not a nuisance.

What is the best, this extension is that duty is not a coating of the original, but an ambitious expansion. Among the many new elements, not least is the solution to the mystery of how Mr. Ping, a goose, could be the biological father of the Po, the panda. In the original film, as I can remember, each character represents a different species, so I thought maybe unexplored reproductive processes used. But no, Po paternity is explained here, and has a lot to do new development in the kingdom.

Because we are once again the story of this mythical kingdom of China, Po (voiced by Jack Black), reaching the status of the Dragon Warrior, the first film, will continue to lead the Furious Five: Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Mantis ( Seth Rogen), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Crane (David Cross). Tigre of these is clearly the highest, and the Mantis is still a mystery, although it sounds like Seth Rogen, as a by-pass the weigh-ins?

Empire now faces the prospect that it will be conquered and ruled by the evil Lord Shen Peacock (Gary Oldman), whose henchmen have devised a new weapon that leads him to wander the earth for scrap. The Shen is a vicious enemy, throw sharp, pointed tail feathers like a circus knife thrower. It turns out that the mystery of the affinity Po can be explained by Lord Shen paranoia after a divination (Michelle Yeoh) tells him to take care of the pandas so that their fates are deeper than Po could imagine.

It's a film of DreamWorks, which is locked in competition with Pixar, and swings for the fences. The animation is much better than your average 3-D feature about cute little animals, even if arising from the 3-D effects are not favors. The story gets a lot of humor out of the Po, Jack Black is the voice he invest with more personality than you'd expect from a character that looks like a balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. ("Kung Fu Panda 3" might open with Po works with a personal trainer, maybe tiger.) Director, Jennifer Yuh Nelson, extends the scope of the animation to include more styles than your pets cartoon base, and imaginary scenes involving Po story is quite beautiful.

Make voice on the job must now count as an important part of the repertoire of each player, and has created a demand for actors who have distinctive voices. Among the talent is here particularly successful Dustin Hoffman as a guru named Shifu. As it ages, Hoffman Master Calendar more and inflection of a stand-up comedy Smart. It is a gift.

Director: Jennifer Yuh
Writers: Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger
